In this week's episode, we have a sit down chat (and sip on the strongest coffee ever brewed) with my good pal, Sammy Thomas: a photographer and camera operator with a penchant for retro games, based in our fair city of Cardiff. We chat about his personal journey and how a traumatic life event caused an adverse shift in his mental health. We also talk creativity, fatherhood and how mindfulness, gratitude and the support of his family, have helped him get to where he is today. So, here it is. We hope you enjoy our conversation with Sammy T. Until next week friends! Rhys X
The fantastic not-for-profit organisation from Cardiff that Sam references is named Heads Above The Waves. They raise awareness of depression and self-harm in young people and promote positive, creative ways of dealing with the bad days. Go check them out here and go buy a t-shirt!
The book mentioned by Sam on mindfulness is called "The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down" by Haemin Sunim. You can find a link to the book here.
In terms of apps related to mindfulness and meditation, we love Headspace. I used the app for well over a year and noticed a significant improvement in my ability to be present and concentrate. Give it a go!
